You seem to know your stuff ☆ As the region of rice, Uonuma is also the kingdom of local sake. Not only is there sake, but there’s also wine! The vines and grapes are of course grown locally as well.

Hakkai Jozo 八海醸造
HAKKAISAN BREWERY CO., LTD. Est. 1922
It pairs perfectly with food while not interfering with the taste. It has a distinct flavor yet you will never get tired of it. It is dry but not unpleasant. It has a depth of flavor yet is light on the tongue.
Creating a sake similar to a perfectly polished sphere: that is the Hakkai Brewery’s approach to sake brewing.

Takachiyo Shuzo　高千代酒造
Takachiyo Sake Brewery Co., LTD Est. 1868
With over 150 years of history, the Takachiyo brand of today aims to produce a higher quality sake, using the traditional manual Ginjo style of brewing. We use the rare ‘Ipponjime’ sake rice, which we manage the cultivation of, to produce a sake with an exceptional flavor profile that brings out the rice’s aroma to the fullest.

Aoki Shuzo 青木酒造

AOKISHUZO The Sake Brewery Co., LTD Est. 1717
The spirit of “wago” is considered to be the most important aspect of brewing at Aoki Shuzo. “Wago” is the idea that good sake is created through harmony between the brewers (chief brewer and other brewers, farmers who grow sake rice), the sellers (sake dealers and restaurants) and those who love to drink Kakurei.

A winery based in snow country that matures its wines using snow cellars. This wine is highly acclaimed by professionals for its success in grape cultivation in a region with such heavy snowfall. The wines are refreshing and fruity. Visitors may tour the snow cellars, and there is a gift shop as well as a restaurant.

Tamagawa Shuzo 玉川酒造
TAMAGAWA BREWING COMPANY Est.1673
This long-established sake brewery has been making sake since the Edo period, during the reign of the fourth Shogun Tokugawa Ietsuna. Visitors may try 10 different kinds of sake at our Echigo Yukikurakan tasting venue adjacent to our warehouse. Visitors can also tour the brewery and learn about sake brewing and storage methods, as well as the history of sake.
